Great Expectations Academy was founded in 1999 after a discussion between colleagues returning home from an educational conference. In August classes began for grades K-5 in the activities hall of the Cornerstone Baptist Church, a single room divided by several room dividers. They continued there until January of 2000, when the students returned from Winter Break to a newly developed site on Camino Antigua. The site consisted of 4 used classroom buildings, a restroom building, a small office, and a dirt playground.
In 2001 an Administration building was added, along with a new library and computer lab, and a multi purpose building for music and art classes, along with the addition of 6th grade. In 2002 we added a new Jr. High building for the addition of 7th and 8th grades, and acquired a new restroom building and a basketball court.
Finally in 2003 we were able to put in new classroom buildings designed by the administration to replace the originals, and in 2004 a new playground was donated for the younger grades, and a new sandbox was added. In 2005 a concrete 4-Square area and several shade structures were added.
Some of our biggest changes happened just recently (2006/2007), with the addition of a fine arts and music buildings, 2 new pieces of playground equipment, and a "Secret Garden" for some creative thinking.
